Let's start with a review of the week.
We dedicate ourselves for the first time to describe a game for the PSP, the highly anticipated title of Polyphony: Gran Turismo.
begin by saying that the wait rather than to this title for the handheld, is facing the fifth chapter, which hopefully in early 2010 landing on the black monolith. We consider this release a sort of appetizer, a prelude to the big game for Sony's home (some might say, "We've already had GT5 Prologue as a starter." True, but a racing simulator on the PSP is something that if made with care can attract much attention).
And then Gran Turismo Portable is truly a job well done?
I state that I believe that the focal points of a handheld game should be not so much the depth or longevity, as the ability to be fast to make and give (in the sense, which does not require an hour to stand in the console if you do not have available during that time, but still maintains quell'appeal six percutaneous led to the return trip).
say that considering this aspect GT is a product for perfectionists, you're led to do and redo certain races, certain challenges, but only if you like too pleased to have other cars and try to win races more difficult.
fact mixed blessing of this title is the lack of career mode. I put together a cross delight because you hear the real need for a mod.carriera in this release, Challenges are the way that helps you get carried away with the game and perfect your driving style and then a series of races in Single Player mode (Time Trial, Race and Drift) to make and remake earn more cash, cars and difficulty levels of AI.
say that we are used to missing his career, but I have not considered so essential in dealing with the game (especially since I'm still playing with a fairly good taste).
past for a moment to describe what I believe is the crucial point for any fan of the series, the physics and mechanics.
are definitely ones, played with the same fidelity and thoroughness which Polyphony has always been accustomed to.
Simply put: there is no portable console on the driving simulator that is comparable to Gran Turismo.
If you like to drive with precision and perfection to the limit of the guide, this is your game (well, not being able to attach a steering wheel, the experience is not perfect but it is still extraordinary.)
graph, we can argue a little, obviously we can not expect a next-gen graphics, but the level of a portable console are standard on very satisfactory, polygonal models of the cars are amazing as always in relation to the medium on which they are displayed, obviously lacking a number of lighting effects and shaders with which we have spoiled the console "major" but in general the effect of graphics realism is successful and the circuits are reproduced with generous details. The only flaw, some guardrail pit poorly reported and mirrors that have been "cunningly" semplicizzati with the image of the cars that follow, some detail the very first and then a background out of focus, but there may be.
course, the audio sector (or the roar of the engines) is considerable, the ingame music is more anonymous than you can imagine but we are totally in line with the music of the chapters of the most acclaimed GT.
So far, I think we can say that Gran Turismo for PSP is a title worthy of the highest esteem, but even if you do not want to upset this review is an aspect of the game that looks very nice and full of gaps, or the side of presentation of the game.
Let me explain: failing to enter a career mode, on the ground, I think, to make the game more linear (meaning "I do a lot that I do not have much time") was necessary to ensure that you do not lose hours surfing through different menus. For example, there are challenges in how to go through three menus to select the challenge you want to do, a challenge that is present from the very first to select it but you have to go to "flush out" in the submenu. Another example is that to change track or car you always return to the menu under the Single Player mode when Instead you could easily afford to change cars at least, a sense of the track and difficulty level in the menu Pregara. These two examples seem silly, but since there are loading times do not help the flow of the game, in fact hamper the lot.
Finally we come to what is the sore point of the game in my opinion: the menu of the dealers.
First is to understand why the developers have ever wished that occur only four retailers, a day in the game "randomly selected, but we put a postponement on this, what is frustrating is that retailers do not occur around a with equal chances for everybody, but some common ones are always, ALWAYS, present (do not think I've ever seen a missing between Mazda, Honda, Nissan), while others never happen (I personally have had access to the Ferrari dealer once in 160 days spent in the game). Ok, let's say they made the questionable choice: we want to defer? Put it this way, finally reaches the dealer of our dreams and what happens? We do not have the credits necessary to purchase the car we want. We have to give up the nest egg gather enough (while giving the dealers more cars to children in case interested us) and hope once you reach the required value of hitting the dealer in a humanly acceptable time.
The exasperation at this point begins to gallop, do not you think? Unfortunately this is where
GT shows its dark side, too bad.
Small brackets on multiplayer. And 'present only in ad-hoc mode, say for a driving game, the pure online could be done that would have received its approval, but not a fan of online on the portable console (after all, are made to use them in around) do not consider a serious flaw. CONCLUSIONS
----------- -----------
Gran Turismo PSP is a game that deserves it, especially if you are hardcore fans of the ultimate driving simulator. Is affected by poorly functional details to the gaming experience, bad or just individually annoy but taken together lead to exasperation. We say that a potential "game-One Day" we are faced with a "but could not." The driving experience is sublime, but what is around us is not up to it. And it is a great sin, because now even creeps into our hopes on what some fear gaming is looking forward to GT5. But that's another story.
